John Robert Maddox
April 7, 1949 - January 18, 2010
   

Biography

John was born to Claud and Anna Lee Maddox on April 7, 1949. John passed away on January 18, 2010 after a brief battle with Cancer. He was raised in North Hollywood, California and John graduated from Polytechnic High School. He met Darlene in Simi Valley, CA and they were married in 1979. Later that year, John, his new bride and his two children moved north to Placerville, CA.

He worked for many years as a truck driver. Most of his trucking career he drove for Jay Dee Transport, out of the Michigan-California Lumber Mill.

He went back to school to become a Phlebotomist. Upon graduation, he briefly worked in the Lab at Marshall Hospital before realizing that he missed the road.

John spent his last 8 years as a Special Education Bus Driver for El Dorado County Office of Education. This was more than a job to John...it was his calling. He had a magical bond with each and every one of his special needs kids.

He had a contagious smile, loved to make you laugh and a heart of gold. John also held a very special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews. He loved family more than life itself.

John is survived by his wife, Darlene, of 30 years; his daughter Christa, of Portland, OR; his son, Dale; Dale's wife, Lisa; and his granddaughter, Caitlin, all of Placerville, CA.
