Biography

AVERILL MAURINE MAHL EWING
Our beloved Mama left this earth on 7/13/2010. Averill was born in Berkley, Ca on #/29/1926 to William Ernest Mahl and Maurine Elizabeth Bolles. She was one of 4 children. Averill graduated from El Cerrito High School. She met a Navy Cadet that later became a U.S.M.C. pilot, Neal Richard Ewing. They married on 11/24/44 during WWII. They had 2 children, Kent and Kathleen Ewing. After 6 short years of marriage, Neal gave his life in Korea, 5/18/51 leaving Averill a widow for 60 years. Averill was an active member of the L.D.S. church her entire life. She worked as an Administrative Secretary in the Music and Adult Education departments for Grant Union High School District for 32 years. Averill is preceded in death by her parents, husband Neal, brothers, Ernest, Kenneth and Gerald Mahl. She is survived by her son Kent (Nancy) Ewing, her daughter, Kathleen (Vincent) Chiodo and 6 grandchildren: Aaron (Devon), Monica, Troy and Christy Ewing, Shannan Robertson, Denise (Davis) Pinnegarand and 8 great-grandchildren.

Averill will be interred at Golden Gate National Cemetary with her beloved, Neal on 7/23/10 at 1:00 p.m. in San Bruno, Ca. Viewings will be held at Green Valley Mortuary at 610 Coloma St., Folsom, Ca. Wed, 7/21/10 at 6-8 p.m. and Thurs, 7/22/10 at 6-8 p.m. A memorial Service will be held at the L.D.S. church on Mission and Whitney Ave. in Sacramento, Ca at 11:00 a.m.
