Eileen Anita Hanebutt
February 9, 1927 - February 27, 2022
Eileen Hanebutt entered heaven to be with Jesus on February 27, 2022, with her 4 children by her side. She was born February 9, 1927, in Red Bud, Illinois to Alfred and Norma Guebert and was one of six children. Growing up in the small farming community of Red Bud, Eileen spent her early years helping on the family farm, getting into mischief with her 5 siblings, and participating in many church and community activities. She graduated from Red Bud Community High School in 1944 and attended Southern Illinois University. Eileen married Robert (Bob) Hanebutt in 1950, settling in Springfield, Illinois to complete Bob’s degree in theology at Concordia Lutheran Seminary. Bob and Eileen moved to Oklahoma, serving two mission congregations in Okmulgee and McAlester. In 1956, they moved to Broken Arrow serving Immanuel Lutheran Church. All four children were born in Oklahoma. In 1963, they moved to North Highlands, CA, serving Zion Lutheran Church, where they remained until retiring in 1992 to Cameron Park, CA. Bob and Eileen were married for over 62 years until his death in 2013. Even in retirement they served churches in Hawaii, Valley Springs, Jackson and Rancho Cordova, CA. They enjoyed camping and traveling the world with family and friends. They were blessed with four children, Bruce (Bonnie) of Boise, ID, David (Marcia) of Lotus, CA, Beth Foster (Lorin) of Sparks, NV and Lynn Zacher (Paul) of Fair Oaks, CA. They were further blessed with seven grandchildren, Summer (Umari), Michael (Tamara), Alyson (Eric), Katie (Joshua), Andrew, Cameron (Karly), Jordan and 5 great grandchildren, Kennedy, Clark, Emmersyn, Goldie and Luke. Eileen is preceded in death by her brother Donald Guebert, and survived by her sisters, Doris Zschiegner, Evelyn Muench; brothers Glenn Guebert and James Guebert. Eileen was a thoughtful, loving and an overwhelmingly kind woman who used her talents and energy serving others and her Lord. She was an inspiration and touched many lives. Eileen was a strong leader in so many areas of her church and private life. She was, in fact, the original Dave Ramsey. Her love of music kept her singing in various choirs and playing the piano over her lifetime. Eileen loved her family and delighted in gathering her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren together for any occasion or celebration. She always had enough food on the table for anyone that dropped by to visit. She enjoyed sewing, throwing parties, playing pinochle, cooking and was a hostess extraordinaire. Eileen’s strength, love and dedication will be missed by all. Her family would like to thank the amazing and caring staff of Sunrise of Fair Oaks, the love and support from her dear friends at Light of the Hills Lutheran Church, the lovely Saturday Sisters, and family both near and far. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Eileen’s name to Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) missions at https://lcms.org or to the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) at Light of the Hills Lutheran Church for missions. The Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022, 11am at Light of the Hills Lutheran Church 3100 Rodeo Rd. Cameron Park, CA. Everyone is welcome.
