A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022, in The Legacy Center at Green Valley Mortuary, located at 3004 Alexandrite Drive, Rescue, CA 95672. Family and close friends will gather at 1 pm to share thoughts and stories about his love of life, followed by an open house at 2:30 for his friends and colleagues. 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm - By invitation only (please RSVP) 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm - Open House John was born in 1960 in San Jose, CA, to John Markley, Jr. and Barbara Rydberg. When Maria Morris married his father, she then became a devoted stepmother to John. He raced motorcycles throughout high school and loved to ride in the desert with his friends. John loved bowling, taking that skill well into his adult life and participating in several bowling leagues. His introduction into the Information Technology world started at Digital Equipment Corporation shortly after High School. John's career flourished as he experienced opportunities and advanced his knowledge at Naval Air Warfare Center in China Lake and Edwards Air Force Base. Upon leaving the Ridgecrest area, John worked at numerous companies in the Bay Area. These included Hewlett Packard and Robert Half International. John was a natural at leading and mentoring engineers and other staff members. John's last employment was with Sutter Health, where he led the Compute and Storage team. He loved what he did and the people with whom he worked. John was a passionate volunteer. He volunteered with the Professional Golfers Association and was a hole captain at many golfing events. John and his wife, Kym, participated in the local citizens' police academy, where John took it further and volunteered with the local police department for many years. An advocate of sports, he enjoyed football, baseball, tennis, NASCAR, and golf. John could often be found on the golf course or out fishing with his buddies. Like his father, he enjoyed cooking and meal planning. He and Kym discovered the joy of wine, and wineries became a favorite getaway. Their travels became adventures, and the couple's favorite destinations for relaxation were Hawaii and Fiji. John loved his family and friends and was a devoted husband for 30 years. All will miss him. John went to be with our Lord on May 1, 2022, at the age of 61. He is preceded in death by his Father, John Markley, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Kym Markley of El Dorado Hills, CA, brother David Surian (Paula) Plumas Lake, CA, his sister Kathi Cramer (Steve) of Denver, CO, mother Barbara Rydberg, Wiley, CO. He is survived by the mother of his heart, Maria Morris-Burke, and his stepbrother John Morris (Rhea) of Menlo Park, CA, his stepsisters Kristi Nielsen (Linda) of Santa Clarita, CA, and Dawn Schiller of Valencia, CA as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
