Mack G. Hardwick Obituary (1936 - 2019)

Mack Glenn Hardwick passed away on September 6, 2019 at Mercy San Juan Hospital in Carmichael at the age of 83 after a sudden stroke. Mack was born in Start, LA to Ovin and Elsie Hardwick and grew up in Rayville, La. He graduated from Rayville High School and immediately joined the US Army. He served in the Army for the next 23 years with assignments in Germany, Turkey, Vietnam, Massachusetts, Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina and California, achieving the rank of Major. He retired from the Army on April 13, 1977. After the Army he worked at a variety of jobs including Deputy Sheriff, telephone lineman, real estate salesman, Intel Security Guard and part owner of a machine shop. Mack was an avid golfer and loved hunting and camping in the Stanislaus National Forest near Tuolumne, CA. He also loved cruising, especially to Alaska. He worked out regularly at Snap Fitness in El Dorado Hills. Mack was active in the Foothills United Methodist and volunteered as a sound technician for many years. Preceded in death by his parents Ovin and Elsie. Mack is survived by his wife of 58 years, Helen; sons, Michael and James; five grandchildren; Angelina, Jeana, Spencer, Jordan and Mia Grace; sister, Geraldine and brother, Alton Ray both of Monroe, LA, as well as many nieces and nephews in Louisiana and Texas. A Celebration of Mack's life will be held on October 5, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Foothills United Methodist Church, 3301 Green Valley Road, Rescue, CA.
