Nelda Marie Gulling, 83, died on April 22, 2022 at her home in Shingle Springs, CA. She was born in Santa Rosa and raised between Truckee and Camptonville. She was predeceased in death by Lowell Glenn Gulling whom she married in 1959. They moved to Shingle Springs in 1965 where she lived the rest of her life. She is survived by daughters Shannon Gulling, Shingle Springs CA and Shelley Gulling, Linda, CA and son Shawn Gulling, Shingle Springs, CA. She was predeceased by son Kevin Gulling in 1966. She leaves behind 5 grandchildren, Ryan, Amber, Mickayla, Skyler and Triston and 2 great grandsons Emmitt and Zayne. She is survived by brothers Bart (Nancy) and Dan Stone of AK and sisters Lani Stone, CA and Trish (Kurt Lichtenberg) Shingle Springs, CA. Also survived by in-laws Lois Sparks of Loyalton, CA, Alan (Connie) Gulling of Dutch Flat, CA, Betty Gulling of Anderson, CA and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Nelda and Glenn moved to El Dorado County where they both were teachers. Him at Ponderosa High and her at Pioneer Elementary School followed by Green Valley Elementary school then Rescue Elementary School, spanning over 38 years of teaching. Her passion was teaching 6th grade at Rescue School and taking students on field trips to the coast and to Lassen. She loved keeping critters in her classroom from chinchillas to a 9' boa for kids to learn about. With summers off there was much traveling and camping while the children were young. The family took road trips from Baja to Alaska. Every year there were camping trips with Yosemite being one of her favorite places to stay. Each summer was a new adventure. There were also many cousins and friends that would come visit and stay. She shared her love of nature and animals with her children and had horses, goats, sheep, guinea fowl, chickens, ducks and always cats and dogs. After retirement she remained quite active and continued to travel to different places around the world with her family and friends. Peru, Galapagos, Israel, Petra, Scotland, Ireland and China are just a few of the places she was able to experience. Australia may have been one of her favorites, visiting there several times. Eventually she settled down to quality time with friends and family. She looked forward to weekly family dinners. She enjoyed seeing pictures of where her kids and grandkids had traveled and what they had been up to. She enjoyed outings to plays, movies, restaurants and shopping. She really enjoyed spoiling her great grandsons. She was a member of the Latter-Day Saints church and looked forward to Sunday services and special events and had many friends. She often talked of her love of playing the piano for her church. She loved to play for the children and Relief Society. Her love of piano started at a very young age on her mother's piano which still sits in her home. Services will be held at Green Valley Mortuary, 3004 Alexandrite Dr, Rescue, CA on May 21, 2022 at 11am followed by light refreshments at the LDS Stake Center pavilion located at 3431 Hacienda Dr, Cameron Park, CA.
