April 23, 1925 - February 21, 2021
“Always Loving, Always Loved…Until We Meet Again” On Sunday morning, February 21, 2021, God called home one of his most deserving angels to join him in his kingdom for everlasting life. Rosa Verna of El Dorado Hills, CA passed away peacefully with her son by her side at the age of 95. She was born April 23, 1925 in Solopaca Italy to Carolina and Francisco D’Amico. Rosa was the oldest of 4 children, proceeded in death by her parents and sister Teresa and brother Frank. Rosa is survived by her sister Antonietta Martucci. Rosa and Anthony (Tony) had 2 children, Tony Verna of El Dorado Hills and Marie McGavock of Hemet California. Her highest priority was her beloved family whom she loved unconditionally and with all her heart. She will be best remembered as the devoted mother to her two children, Tony and Marie, as well as her 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She had a special bond and a place in her heart for her grandson Michael Verna and was instrumental in his life. Rosa and Tony were married for 50 years before Tony’s passing in 1996. They met and fell in love while Tony was serving in WWII as a paratrooper in Italy. After their marriage in Livorno Italy, they migrated to the United States settling in Philadelphia, PA. Rosa and Tony came to Southern CA in 1957 where Tony worked for the Southern Pacific railroad and subsequently relocated to Roseville, CA in 1977. He worked for the railroad for over 40 years to provide for Rosa and his family. Rosa, after raising her son Tony, took a position with Mercy San Juan Hospital in Citrus Heights, CA. She loved her work and the many lasting friendships she made during her long and rewarding career. Rosa loved many things, but most important to her was her family, friends, children, and animals. She loved to reminisce about her hometown in Italy. She took every opportunity to visit her hometown of Frasso Telesino and Caserta, Italy to reunite with her extensive family of nieces and nephews. If you knew Rosa, you were loved and made to feel a part of her family. She was a wonderful cook and took great joy in preparing Italian meals for her family and friends. Sunday dinner at Rosa’s was more than a family affair and everyone was welcome, she never knew a stranger. It was her mission in life to share her love and generosity with family and friends through food and celebration. Rosa will join her husband Tony at Green Valley Cemetery, Rescue, CA in a private family service. Rosa will be forever missed but will always remain in our hearts. In remembrance, please give your love your understanding and most of all kindness to those around you.
