Sandra "Sandy" Blanning
October 3, 1949 - March 12, 2022
Sandra “Sandy” Blanning passed away peacefully in her home in El Dorado Hills, California, on March 12, 2022, surrounded by her loving and beloved family. Sandy was born on October 3, 1949, was raised in Tujunga, California, and lived there until she moved with her family to northern California in 1996. Sandy’s greatest love was for her five children, ten grandchildren, and her extended family, who all called her “Gunda”. Sandy also loved being outdoors, the beauty of the mountains and grass-covered fields, wild birds and butterflies, and designing her garden, moving rocks, and planting flowers, bushes and trees. She loved her dogs, horses, donkeys, and every stray animal that crossed her path. Life was a celebration and a continuing adventure to be enjoyed, whether she was jet skiing and houseboating on the Delta, dune buggying at Oceano, swinging through the tall trees on cables at Tahoe, kayaking on the Russian River, snorkeling, horseback riding, driving her tractor-mower, decorating and maintaining her home, or sitting by the fire on winter nights. Sandy battled cancer for 23 years through numerous surgeries, treatments, and recoveries. Through it all she demonstrated her incredible strength and maintained her positive attitude with her warm laugh and beautiful smile that uplifted everyone around her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mabel, and her brother, Marty. She is survived by her husband, Bruce; her children, Bretton, Lisa, Cheyenne, Cherish, and Ryan; her stepchildren, Natalie and Brian; her ten grandchildren, Tyler, Garin, Chloe, Skyla, Kaleb, Myles, Danny, Mason, Jacob, and Bella; and her extended family, including her daughter-in-law Kandle who was her primary caregiver in her final months. Services to celebrate Sandy’s life will be held at 11:00am on March 25, 2022, at Green Valley Mortuary & Cemetery, 3004 Alexandrite Drive, Rescue, CA 95672.
