Sherri Lee Dietz Springer Born June 5, 1951 in Bend Oregon to Bill and Adelva Dietz. Sherri was a physically active adult and child. She loved sports, playing soccer and softball. Walked two marathons as an adult. In sixth grade she participated in physical education competitions. After almost 200 sit-ups they told her to stop because she had already won. She always said “I could have done more”. Sherri loved to read and excelled in math. Sherri leaves 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Throughout her life friends and strangers most common comments about Sherri were how cute and sweet she was. In 1971 she married the love of her life Bill Springer and had an instant family, with sons Ronny and Tommy. Soon after she had two daughters Lori and Cindy. They then moved to the hills and raised their family. She stayed active in her kid’s schooling, sports, girl scouts and 4H. She also continued to play soccer and softball, making many lifelong friends. Her children have given her 8 beautiful grandkids and 3 great grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family, often going to see the Oakland A’s and Raiders games with the entire family. Sherri loved to travel the world and visited many countries. Disneyland was a favorite thing to do with her kids and grandkids. With the kids in school she began volunteering at Gold Trail Elementary School. Everyone recognized her love and passion for children and she began working for the Gold Trail School District. Before long Sherri and Bill bought a historic house in Placerville and opened the first Happy Kids Daycare and Preschool. Then opened centers in Shingle Springs and Cameron Park. As those grew Sherri became a fierce advocate for Early Childhood educators, providers and most importantly for the Children. Sherri has helped sponsor several Providers in receiving grants to benefit children and their families. She worked tirelessly advocating for legislation in the childcare field. Sherri has shared her 40 years of knowledge of curriculum and also business expertise with other providers and teachers across the state and community. She worked closely with the local planning council and High 5 For Quality. Along-side her longtime friend Mary, they founded Californians for Quality Early Learning, a nonprofit organization advancing the childcare profession of providing quality early learning education. Sherri’s death is a great loss and will be missed by so many people. Most of all by her children, Ron, Rosemary (daughter-in-law), Tommy, Lori, Cindy and Johnny (son-in-law). Grandchildren Justin, Jake, Casey, Jarod, Devon, Madison, Jesse, Destiny and great-grandchildren Faith, Jasmine and Jae. Memorial will be held at her Brothers house on July 18th from 2:00-4:00 at 5665 Val Verde Rd Loomis Ca 95650. Kids are welcome of course.
