Van Calvin Foster

Van Calvin Foster was born on April, 15, 1921, in Springfield, Ohio, and passed away on March 5, 2017 at Kaiser Hospital, Roseville. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sue; daughters Mary Ann (David) and Nancy (Andrew); sons Brian (Sue) and Kit (Terri); nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Starting in 1948 Van built an appliance sales and service business in southern California. In 1960 the family moved to Sacramento. He built Foster’s Service Company over the next 20 years. Shortly after moving to Sacramento, he became a private pilot. In the early 80's he built an experimental airplane (Dragonfly). He enjoyed flying into his late 80's. Another passion was water skiing. He was a fixture on the Sacramento River and at the Sacramento Water Ski Club for many years. He was also a founding director for the Cameron Park Airport District. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Green Valley Mortuary at 3004 Alexandrite Drive, Rescue, CA at 1:00 PM. A luncheon will follow at the Legacy Center at Green Valley.
