Anne Kester 8/20/28 - 11/29/25
Anne Kester went to be with the Lord Jesus on Saturday morning November 29,
2025, at age 97, with her two daughters by her side. Anne was born August 20,
1928 in Hinton, WV as Annabelle Pack, one of eight children. In 1957 she moved
to CA with her husband Robert Bear and their two daughters.
She married Dan Kester in 1966. She was devoted to him for 44 years. She and
Dan were quite active in their early years of marriage. They traveled America,
Canada, and Europe together. They loved working on many home projects
together, and built their own home in the foothills in the 80’s. They enjoyed
playing tennis and golf, and road trips.
Anne lived a long life, full of love, admired by family and friends for her elegance
and grace. She loved being a homemaker, wife and mother, often remarking that
the best time of her life was when her girls were young. She was a talented
seamstress, and patiently taught Libby to sew when young. While she was still
able to drive, she enjoyed attending and volunteering at Sun River Church. She
loved to read, and enjoyed playing chess online with her son-in-law Robert.
Anne took various trips with Sarah in the 80’s. As a widow, she took short road
trips with Libby, and even an Amtrak trip alone to visit family in OH and WV. She
also visited Robert and Sarah in Mendocino.
Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Kester, stepson Jeff Kester and step grandson Cory Welch.
She is survived by daughters Libby (Elizabeth) Prall and Sarah Forest (husband Robert Forest), stepchildren Steve Kester and Jackie Kester; grandchildren, David Prall, Shawn Prall (wife Beth Prall); great grandchildren Kaela Prall, J.D. Prall (wife Gia Prall), Peyton Prall, Courtney Prall; and great granddaughter Myla Moore; nine step grandchildren, Stacy, Troy, Andrea, Alex, Adam, Austin, Stefani, Patricia, Melissa; and four step great grandchildren. Also survived by brother Leroy Pack (wife Beverly Pack) and Dixie Ratliff, niece, raised by her grandparents.
Anne will be remembered and missed as Mama (Momma), Grandma and Great Grandma to many.
In my Father’s house are many mansions;
if it were not so I would have told you.
I go to prepare a place for you.
John 14:2
