Carl Arietta

Rescue, California

Carl “Butch” Arietta, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away just before his 83rd birthday.

Born in San Francisco, he later moved to Vallejo, where his family owned and operated Rudy’s Supper Club. There, he developed his lifelong passion for cooking and hospitality. He later ran his own auto shop and proudly served six years in the National Guard as a cook.

He was married to his beloved wife, Jeanette Arietta, for 50 years. After retiring from the restaurant, they moved to El Dorado Hills, where he became a dedicated full-time dad to his daughter, Jenny. He was known for making breakfast every morning and welcoming her friends with unforgettable home-cooked meals. He later began a 25-year career as a Realtor, making many friends along the way.

Carl was incredibly generous with his time and resources, often volunteering and cooking for his community—including preparing meals for over 1,000 students at a UC Davis Relay for Life event.

As a grandfather to three, he loved cooking breakfast, fixing bikes, and spending time in the garden with his grandchildren. He was always ready to help and could be counted on to show up whenever he was needed.

He will be deeply missed for his kindness, generosity, and the way he made everyone feel at home.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; his daughter, Jenny Hower (Jim) his three grandchildren (Katherine, Darren and Carson), sister (Genevieve Arietta) and many nieces, nephews , cousins and friends.
