To all our family and friends: It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, Lisa Huff Matthiesen, on July 1, 2012 at Marshall Hospital in Placerville, California. Lisa Rachelle Huff was born on September 10, 1971 to William Earl (Bill) Huff and Jane House Samaniego in Grand Junction, CO. Lisa grew up in several suburbs in the San Diego, CA area. Later as a young married woman she moved to the Seattle, Washington area. She returned with her family to California in 1997 and settled in Elk Grove. There Lisa ran a very successful in-home day care for many years. She taught legions of preschool children how to tie their shoes, say the ABC's, count to 100 and do the Chicken Dance. Lisa is survived by her children: Jacob (age 19), Justin (age 16), Abigail (age 8), and Jeremiah (JD) (age 5) Matthiesen. The children currently reside in Houston, TX. Ask anyone who knew her and they will tell you that Lisa's children were the light of her life. Lisa is also survived by her mother Jane Samaniego and step-father George; her brother W. Kelly Huff and his three children, all of El Dorado Hills; her father Bill Huff and step-mother Janet, Grandmother Lillian Huff, brother Ryan Huff, and sister Annie Huff, all of Colorado. There are many more aunts, uncles, and cousins too numerous to mention including the enormous Samaniego family who welcomed her and loved her as their own. To sum up Lisa's short life in eleven words: "All she ever wanted was a loving home full of children." Unfortunately for all of us left behind, Lisa was unable to recover from her broken heart caused by the loss of her precious family. We take some small comfort in the fact that her pain is now over. We sincerely thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Marshall Hospital in Placerville for their valiant attempt to save our girl. Please join us for a memorial service to celebrate Lisa's short 40 years of life to be held at the Green Valley Mortuary & Cemetery on Saturday, August 4th at 11:00 am. It is located at Green Valley & Bass Lake Roads, Rescue, CA. Please dress casually. Hawaiian shirts are welcomed, as Lisa loved all things Hawaiian. You may view an on-line memorial for Lisa at www.greenvalleymortuary.com. A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of Lisa's children at Wells Fargo Bank. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to this fund.
