Obituary for Lyle Dean Buchholz Lyle Dean Buchholz,79, passed away at Marshall Medical Center 0n January 30, 2021 after battling cancer for the last year. He was born with the name Lyle but preferred to use his middle name of Dean. Dean was born in Kansas City, Missouri on October 28, 1941 to Walter and Lucienne Buchholz. Dean grew up in the San Fernando valley and graduated from Reseda High School in 1959. Dean played football and was on the track and field team. Dean was a car guy and enjoyed cruising Van Nuys Boulevard with his best friend Al Heyda. Dean married Joyce Cunningham on June 15, 1968 and together they raised her two sons Terry and Troy Cunningham. Dean and Joyce had a daughter Kimberly Sue Buchholz born on October 3 1969. Dean was a Safety Engineer in the Workers comp field; he was very successful at what he did and because of his work ethic and caring nature he earned the respect and admiration of his peers and clients alike. After 35 years in the worker comp business, he retired. Retirement gave Dean the opportunity to put his endless energy to work. Dean was never idle; he always had a project he was working on. Dean and Joyce enjoyed taking trips with their motorhome visiting family and friends. Some of their favorite trips were every year to the Klamath river to fish for salmon and surf fish for perch. One year they drove to Alaska with their friends Larry and June and spent a month there. They also went on a few cruises the last one being their 50th wedding anniversary to Hawaii. Dean was preceded in death by his parents Walter Buchholz and Lucienne Buchholz, his daughter Kimberly Harris and his stepson Troy Cunningham. He is survived by his wife Joyce Buchholz, stepson Terry Cunningham, granddaughter Melissa Koven, grandson Christian Harris and son- in-law Charles Harris.
