Richard Simpson, Sr. passed away on October 29, 2020 at the age of 82. Preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, he was father to Richard Simpson, Jr. and Anita Sanchez, uncle to Billy Morning, and father-in-law to Dean Sanchez and Sharon Hogan. He was the proud grandfather of Kendra Sanchez, Alyssa Sanchez, Ryan Simpson, and Nick Simpson and great-grandfather of Myles Sanchez and Ava Lane. He was predeceased by his parents Eileen Gass and Daniel Simpson and sisters Sharon Robinson and Linda Morning. Richard was a plumbing and general contractor. He was a proud US Navy veteran and Lions Club member. He was passionate about his land, fishing, grandchildren, traveling in the US, and the NFL 49ers. His favorite hobby was fishing the lakes of Santa Clara and El Dorado counties. There are many things the family will fondly remember about Richard, like seeing him driving his tractor on his properties in Morgan Hill and Rescue, California. For a laugh he would refer to himself as "the dirty plumber," and he always prefaced a story with the words, "I had to laugh." They will remember him as a loving and supportive father, uncle, and grandfather, and are most proud of his dedication to Barbara during her illness. In his later years, Richard survived falling off the roof of his home twice. Thank you to Sutter Roseville Hospital for saving his life and to Marshall Hospital for caring for him at the end of his life. The family would like to share their gratitude to Billy for his endless devotion to his "Uncle Dicky." Due to COVID-19, the family is planning a memorial in the spring.
