Verner Everett Erickson passed away on November 26, 2019 at his home in Cameron Park, surrounded by close family members after having courageously battled the effects of numerous strokes. Verner was born to Mabel and Verner Erickson in Braham, Minnesota on May 8, 1944, one of seven children. Verner lived in several states over his lifetime, including California, Hawaii, North Carolina, Washington, and Minnesota. He served his country proudly for 26 years, eight years in The United States Navy and 18 years in the United States Coast Guard as an Avionics Technician, achieving the rank of Senior Chief. His face would light up with pride when he recalled personal stories from the military and his fellow coast guardsmen. After his retirement, he earned a bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering and taught electronics at ITT Technical Institute. Verner is deeply mourned by Dawn, his wife of 16 years and soulmates for 20; his children Bridget (Kent) Pacleb, Brandon (Iris) Erickson, and Jennene Renda; step-sons Eric and Kevin Chamberlain; grandchildren: Kaitlynn, Bryanna, Chaz, Shaelynn, Dante, Ashlynn, and Owen; and siblings Harvey Erickson, Marlys Golly, Harriet Johnson, and Deloris Rowley. Vern will be remembered for his loud, hearty, and infectious laugh; sense of humor; selfless devotion to family, friends, fellow "Coasties"; and love of country. He loved to celebrate life surrounded by family and friends at parties, play pool, ride his Harley, work on projects around the house, and repair things for others. Vern radiated love and cherished each day. He had a strong faith in the Lord and reading His words brought him comfort. He has now joined his Heavenly Father and will be remembered by everyone whose life he touched.
